(1) By Capitola (Smalley) Justice: In his younger years, Steve Smalley was known to be a trader. Cattle, horses, hunting dogs, or anything else. He loved a good trade. He always said he would sell anything he had for a profit. Once he bought a horse drawn mowing machine and was mowing his hay meadow. He was about 1/2 done when someone stopped by to ask directions. During the conversation the person told Steve he was looking for a good mowing machine and ask if he would sell it. Steve priced it, at a profit, and the man said he would take it so Steve unhooked the horses right there in the field and sold it. He then had to go find another one to buy so he could finish cutting his hay.
